Scouting America’s Northeast Iowa Council Awards Community Volunteer Stand-outs
(Dubuque, IA.) – March 22, 2025 – The Northeast Iowa Council is proud to recognize its outstanding volunteers from 2024! The Council held its Scouter Appreciation Dinner at the Guttenberg Golf & Country Club in Guttenberg, Iowa on March 22. This event recognizes all the volunteer efforts provided by the Northeast Iowa Council’s more than 500 registered volunteers from 2024.
The Council would like to say thank you for the dedication from all our volunteers, and also highlight these special award winners:
Silver Beaver Recipients:
Dave Scofield (Peosta, IA) and Deb Siegworth (St. Catherine, IA) are awarded with the Silver Beaver Award. This is the highest award given by a council to volunteers in Scouting America. The Silver Beaver is awarded to those who have given much self-sacrifice, dedication, and hard work over many years of service to the Scouting program and their community.
District Awards of Merit:

Scouting America (formerly Boy Scouts of America) has 248 Councils nationwide. The Northeast Iowa Council serves 1,309 young men and women in six counties in Iowa and Illinois. The Council, supported by more than five hundred volunteers, is headquartered in Dubuque, IA.

Spillville Easter Egg Hunt
The Calmar/Springfield Luther League is hosting an Easter Egg Hunt in Spillville Iowa
Location: Inwood Riverside Park (116 Bridge Street; Spillville, IA 52168)
Date: Saturday, April 19
Time: Hunt starts at 9:00 a.m. (Registration from 8:45 to 8:55)
Easter Bunny will be there for pictures. Bring your own containers for eggs. There is no bathroom facility onsite because the water is still shut off for the season so plan accordingly.
The first 120 registered participants will receive a goodie bag prior to the hunt.
There will be 200 prize eggs hidden along with over 3000 eggs filled with candy. Come join the fun!

Race starting at 8:30 a.m. with registration between 8:00 a.m. and 8:25 a.m.
$30 registration fee along with a canned food item which will be donated to the Little Food Pantry

St. Paul Lutheran, Spring Market in Postville
St. Paul Lutheran Church Spring Market in Postville
March 29th 9-1pm. Multiple vendors including woodworking, metal signs, books, makeup, soaps, stained glass art and more. Also a meal and baked goods sale. Proceeds help to fund youth programs at the church.

Annual Protivin Knights of Columbus Auction
The Annual Protivin Knights of Columbus Auction will be Sunday March 23 starting at 10:30 AM at the Protivin Community Center in Protivin, IA. Doors open at 8:00 AM. Come to bid on many new items and some slightly used donated items, baked goods, and more. All funds raised go to support local causes. There will be a lunch stand throughout the day. Donations are accepted March 22nd from 4:30-6:30 PM and the morning of the auction at the Community Center.
